Humans of MHS 3/31

Sam Martinez April 1, 2016

“In this generation, people want to rush things in relationships. I feel like movies and TV shows make us feel like we have to get into a relationship in high school and if you don’t, then you don’t fit in. That or your self esteem comes in and you don’t feel beautiful or worthy of yourself. I feel that relationships are good, but at the same time, it’s really important to know that if you don’t find yourself in a relationship, then maybe it’s a sign that you need to focus on yourself and you need to focus on your education. You need to focus on what can you do to make yourself a better person in the future. A lot of my friends have felt like during their high school years, if they didn’t get into a relationship or their relationships were troublesome, they felt like they were getting no where in life. I keep telling them to focus on their education. People will come in your life later on, you need to focus on what you need to get done, what’s best for you, and what benefits you. The rest comes in later. I see a lot of people and I see a lot of my friends suffering from breakups or getting into some serious things with relationships, and it has negatively impacted their lives. High school isn’t where you need to find who you’re going to marry. High school is for yourself. You need to focus on yourself.” #humansofmaldenhigh
