Steps to Achieving Self Confidence

Vivian Dang May 12, 2016

As teenagers, one of the conflicts we go through in life is a lack of self-confidence in ourselves. Unfortunately, it could be because nobody is there to offer encouragement. It’s important to be confident in yourself, but of course you can’t just have self-confidence overnight. It’s a quality worth investing your time in to acquire.

With self-confidence you can become more daring and happy with yourself. Focus on accepting yourself before looking for others to also accept you.

Step 1: Try naming and describing a couple of things you like about yourself, which can range from your appearance to your personality. What’s important is to feel happy or at least satisfied with who you are.

Step 2: Once you feel comfortable and positive, share it with someone else. If you’re given a compliment, offer a compliment to the other person as well. People do not praise each other enough. In order to make the other person feel better about themselves, we tend to lower our self-confidence.

Step 3: Ignore any influences that can lead to lower self-confidence. If someone were to insult you, even jokingly, it could still be considered as hurtful. Look to build people up rather than bring them down.

Step 4: Don’t think that everyone else is lower than you. We are all on the same equal playing field so treat other with the respect they deserve. Remember, boosting your ego and boosting your self-confidence are two different things.

Step 5: Keep a positive attitude. You don’t have to try to be optimistic all the time, but if being positive keeps you in a good mood and gives you more self-confidence, then be sure to share your good energy with others.
