With the Girls’ Senior Night game taking place in late October, the Malden High School Girls’ soccer season came to an end with a win over Chelsea.

The tornadoes faced Chelsea on October 20th, at MacDonald’s stadium. After a great battle on the field, the game ended in an 8-1 win for Malden. The game was incredible for the team, as they scored five goals in the second half alone.

Malden felt some high pressure coming into this game, as this year’s senior night also happened to be their last game of the season. However, things went well for them as they dominated the field for the entirety of the game. Senior Goalkeeper Abigail Morrison saved the opposition from many goals, allowing the team to stay on top. Meanwhile, Chelsea scored their only goal on Malden with only six minutes left on the clock.

Playing home gave them an advantage, allowing them to hear the cheers from the crowd and love from family and friends. The audience on the Malden side was amazing, cheering loudly and with enthusiasm for the team.

Senior Briana Morales expressed that “it was a great experience hearing them cheer whenever we got a goal.” She loved hearing the support from members of the community as they played together.

Sophomore Emily De-Jesus scored two goals, making her one of the highest-scoring players on the team. “It was great playing with my teammates and bonding with them on and off the field,” De-Jesus said.

With the Girls’ Soccer season officially coming to a close, it is safe to say that the season was a success for the Malden Girls. “The energy this year was amazing, this year was the funnest season I’ve ever had,” Morales said.
