Crisp, refreshing, and delicious; a few words to describe the taste that Dunkin’ gives to the Malden High School community.
Do you ever walk into a classroom and see it filled with Dunkin’ drinks, bags, or food? Dunkin’ is popular within the Malden High community. Students and teachers go there mostly every week for its convenience. However, Dunkin’ is more than just a coffee spot; it’s a place to go and jump-start your day with a sweet treat.
Dunkin’ is conveniently located right down the street from MHS at 424 Main St., making it easily accessible for students in the morning. “It’s always a quick grab for me,” expressed junior Wongel Yohannes. “I get Dunkin’ because I love it and I want a sweet treat in the mornings,” continued Yohannes.
Dunkin’ makes it easier and quicker for students to get breakfast. Sophomore Neitsy Philome buys Dunkin’ because she does not “have time to make breakfast, and Dunkin’ is right there and convenient.”
It is also a way to get something to eat in the mornings for a good price. It is “kind of cheap compared to eating a whole meal, but it keeps you full,” stated senior Avani Chhetri.

Although Dunkin’ is easily attainable, the fast-growing crowds can create problems for students. Philome explained, “I came to school at 7:19 A.M., ordered Dunkin’, and waited for 30 minutes for my drink because they did the online orders first before mine.” The morning Dunkin’ rush orders can take a long time, causing many students like Philome to run late as a result.
“I’m there four days a week, even though sometimes the wait for food is kind of long and makes me late for school,” sophomore Jaheim Rene said. Some people question whether it is worth it to be tardy over waiting for their Dunkin’ order.
“A small percentage of students are usually late because of Dunkin’,” said business teacher Beth Horwitz. “It is not worth it for students to be late due to Dunks’ because it is more of a want, not a need,” Horwitz added. This may sometimes affect students’ attendance or maybe even their academics.
Despite this, Dunkin’ leaves a huge impact on students’ lives. Dunkin’ makes many people happy and gives them a pick-me-up to help them go along with their day. “Dunkin’ makes me so happy. I live, laugh, and love Dunkin’,” concluded Yohannes.
