  • With a rapidly aging population posing significant problems, the Chinese Communist Party announces they will relax the country’s one-child policy

  • Poland’s Independence Day festivities are plagued by violent demonstrations by far-right protesters

  • Nearly 400 children from countries such as the Ukraine and Russia are rescued from a Canadian child porn investigation; U.S., Canadian and other citizens from various other nations were arrested in relation to the investigation

  • Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, member of the controversial Russian punk band Pussy Riot, has been confirmed as an inmate at a Siberian prison, where she will assumedly remain until her release in less than six months
