MHS Girls Figure Skating Places in the Silver Streaks High School Challenge Competition

On April 3rd, three Malden figure skaters competed in the Silver Streaks High School Challenge Competition at the James McVann-Louis O'Keefe Memorial Skating Rink in Peabody. The group included Malden High School students sophomore Alyssa Ardai, junior Allyson Kummins, and senior Jessica Spadafora, and was coached by math teacher Elizabeth Gibbons.

Other cities that competed were Essex Junction, East Bridgewater, Burlington, and Ashland.

Ardai skated to “Belle” from the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack in the Pre-Preliminary Freeskate competition and placed third.

Kummins skated to “Photograph” by Ed Sheeran in the Preliminary Freeskate competition and placed first.

Spadafora suffered from a hand injury prior to the Novice Freeskate competition, and was not able to perform the jumps in her routine. She skated to “Lux Aeterna” from the Requiem For A Dream soundtrack and placed fourth.

The girls placed fourth overall for the season. Congratulations to the team!
