With returning and new players, Malden started their season opener at the Gannon Municipal Golf Course in Lynn. As both Malden and Lynn Classical arrived at the golf course, they unpacked their golf equipment and began practicing their putting.
Starting at the first tee, four groups of players walked up to commence the match. The first group of golfers continued to the area set up with tee markers. All the golfers began swinging their drivers
“Some people say golf’s not a workout, but when you’re trying to carry a 45-pound-bag of clubs up a steep hill, it’s a little workout,” noted Senior Captain Joshua Mini.
With the first two groups of golfers moving on to the second tee, Junior Kyle Nickerson delivered a clean drive into the fairway. “I feel like we are going to have a good game; I went out there yesterday, and I did pretty good,” Nickerson added.
As the four groups of golfers reached the end of their match, Lynn Classical took the lead, giving Lynn Classical the upper hand over Malden.
With the match concluded, both Malden and Lynn Classical entered the club house as they were treated to a glass of cola and sat down. The teams complimented each other’s skills and what they are able to improve.
Although Malden fell short by the end of the match, they still kept showing tremendous effort and good sportsmanship, as they await their next match against Everett.
