How To Rid Yourself of Boredom

Joanna Li May 9, 2016

Staring at a wall, doing nothing, but thinking what to do. Questions flow through the mind. What should I do with my life? What should I make? Should I go out? Maybe I should make food? Thoughts of actually being active and doing something fun barely happens when you’re used to it or tired of it. There are things that can boost your mood and have some fun. Make plans, make weird accents, make new friends, play outside, or stay inside to experiment food, or play games and spend some quality time with family and yourself.

Step one: don’t stare at a wall, don’t think at all, make rhythms and time. Read books with looks, don’t look down, look high. Think of time of childhood fun. Basically, make up things that are weird and fun; everyone can get rid of boredom with a sense of humor. Try making a weird accent, be someone else, try dressing up like someone you admire. Go back to the times when you were a kid with wild dreams. Act as if you are in the book, as the fairy tales unravel with mystery and adventure in order to discover your imagination.

Step two: Listening to silence is too quiet and lame; you need to blast a sound, play music that boosts your mood. For instance, you could listen to metal, rock, hip-hop, rap, or rhythm and blues. Sing it, dance it, or scream the lyrics in your room; staying quiet with your boredom makes you more tired, but it’s good to sleep at night.

Step three: Experiment with your abilities, try new things in the active side of any sport or spending time with a furry friend. Being lazy and doing nothing is wasting your youth; trying new things is useful for discovering your own talents and trait. It’s a good sign that you aren’t bored or boring.

Overall, you can beat boredom with these steps; Have fun with these activities in your life. Breathe it, live it, accept it, and be it. You can perform these steps in any place and with anyone you choose. Don’t over do it, it might get old, but it’s worth it.
