As a result of the hot weather and being unable to practice the day before, Malden, on the bus ride to Del Russo Stadium in Revere, “didn’t really feel hype for the game,” junior Sofia Vargas mentioned. Despite this, they still marched into the game confident in their victory.
In the first half, Malden realized that team communication was weak and ineffective, and passes and touches were not the best. Despite it negatively impacting their gameplay, the Tornados managed to score a goal, drawing the score to 1-0.
During halftime, Coach Enrique “Rick” Caceda emphasized the much-needed work on communicating with each other more and voiced that it was very quiet on the field. When the second half started, Malden quickly spun back, their passes became more aggressive and skillful, concluding the game with a 4-2 victory for Malden.
Even though the players started the match uncoordinated, they were able to swiftly change their strategies and overcome flaws, securing a victory against Revere. Most importantly, they left the field that afternoon happy and hyped about their triumph.
“My main concern is that at the end of the day, these girls have fun and feel good about themselves,” Caceda expressed.
