Future Medical Professionals and Health Club

Have you been thinking about going into the medical field? Do you want to volunteer at local hospitals? There is a club that can help with that. The future medical professionals and health club is a new club started by freshmen students.

Saura Rathore is the president of the club. She has been wanting to go into the medical field ever since she was in first grade. She wants to be a neurosurgeon. Rathore started this club because many people that she talked to wanted to do something in the medical field at the school but have no facility to work in.

The meetings are 45 minutes long. At the beginning of every meeting, everyone will start off as one big group. Then, they will divide into two different groups. Rathore’s plan is to divide people into groups based on who is actually thinking about going into the medical field and students who are still not sure. This is so that the students who actually do want to go into the medical field can focus more on researching the different jobs, salaries, education needed for it. For students who are still not sure, they are going to read different articles on websites and fill out forms and and think about why they want to do. At the end of the meetings, they will come back together and reflect on what happened.

In this club, the students will also be volunteering at the local hospitals. They are planning on volunteering at Melrose-Wakefield and Cambridge Health Alliance. There will be permission slips for the parents to sign so they can volunteer at these hospitals.

Since most of the club members are freshmen, jobs at the hospitals are not going to be involving much medical needs because they are not old enough. But just being in that environment and seeing how things are working around them, will give students a better perspective and more knowledge in regards to the medical field.
