Bake sales have been a big way of fundraising and giving recognition to clubs or teams this year, and for the softball team, this happened to be an enormous amount of help in bringing more awareness for their upcoming season. The fundraising collected a substantial amount of money and ended up surpassing their goal. The team looks forward to more bake sales in the future, including one at the Student Faculty Basketball Game.

Overall, this brought the team further together as they gear up for the season. The softball captain’s practices and the teamwork needed to organize the event were key in fostering the growing community. Teamwork itself is the foundation of a great team and will be extremely necessary for the girls this year for them to be successful.

The bake sale was also able to prove useful for any new players wanting to join and a handful of students stayed behind to ask questions about the team. “I’m glad everyone came together as a team to work for our goal, it was so much fun,” said senior Julisa Ramirez.

The bake sale was set up just outside the main office after school last Friday, March 8th. The team served numerous homemade goods and snacks including assorted cookies, brownies, cake pops, and more. Almost everything that was brought out was sold.

“The biggest goal for this season is simply to create a long-term bond with everyone on the team and grow better at the game of softball,” noted junior Kimora Ha-Trinh. Freshman Zayra Garcia added how “This being my first year playing softball and doing a bake sale, it gave me a lot of goals to be able to get to know all of the girls and build a strong bond with them.”

This team has a lot of potential for this year, looking to develop many of their young players and place high in the GBL. You can tell the girls on the team have lots of are excited for the season to begin with tryouts starting on March 18th at the Salemwood school.
