Sparks Fly as Malden CO ’25 Hosts 84th Annual Junior Varieties

As Spring approaches the Malden High class of 2025 hosts a beyond successful 84th Junior Varieties show. They kept the show fresh and the audience on the edge of their seats with eight different exciting acts all showcasing their different talents. These talents ranged from singing, to dancing, to playing the piano, to playing in a band and even more.

          

  • Bottom Bunk lead guitarist Slade Harding strumming to Santeria.
  • AO Step Team senior Tyler Edmond stepping to the beat.
  • Sophomore Sorin Mamouzette dancing to “Mago.”
  • Senior Giselle Dessert and junior Brayan Jose doing the Kompa during the Afro Caribbean performance.
  • Sophomore Milan Nguyen of “Aromatherapy” singing to “Bags” by Clairo.
  • Senior Erikah Macharia of New Edition posing.
  • Senior Sami Jeudy on stage ready for the Afro Caribbean performance to begin.
  • Junior Ruka Truong and Jefferyi Pagulong performing “Your Best American Girl” by Mitski.
  • Senior Sarah Boucher introducing the rest of the AO Step Team’s seniors.
  • Lead singer of Baby Powder Heitor Soares grabs the crowds attention with his performance of “From The Start.”
  • Junior Kimberlee Smith opens JV for the second year in a row, this time with Olivia Rodrigo’s “The Grudge”.

Shuyi Chen (she/her) is a first-year reporter at The Blue and Gold. Originally from Guangdong, China, she moved to Boston at a young age and settled in Malden during second grade. Shuyi enjoys watching movies, dining out with friends, and playing volleyball for Malden High’s varsity team. As of last year, she became a part of our varsity softball team as an outfielder. Engaged in various clubs such as the Shrub Club, Key Club, and Y-Leaders, she also holds the role as one of the Class of 2024 Social Media Coordinators.
