Malden High School’s South Asian Student Association (SASA) held its first ever bake sale on March 30th after school, marking an exciting start to their recently established club. The event served as both a club fundraiser and their formal introduction to the school, giving students a chance to support, discover, and potentially join the club.
“We wanted to do something to start getting the club going, and we thought a bake sale would be a perfect small start to make way for a lot of cool new things,” expressed SASA’s president, junior Reva Upadhayay who explained that the idea for the bake sale came from wanting to take the first step in building the club.
Although the club is still in its early stages, the organization behind the bake sale went smoothly. When asked if there were challenges the club faced, Upadhayay shared that they did not encounter any obstacles as “it worked out amazing.”
While the SASA does not yet have specific plans set for future events, the success of the bake sale suggests a promising future. With a strong start accompanied by growing interest, the club hopes to continue creating opportunities for students to learn about and appreciate South Asian culture and build a welcoming community within the school.
