Being a part of the student council is a big deal. Additionally, everyone plays a role in the council, even if they are not directly a part of the council. Students contribute positively to their class by volunteering and expressing their thoughts on various events.
Newly elected President, Alexis Lee, promises to host several “events while getting others’ input for different preferences, so that everyone can have a great time,” and “make a lot of amazing memories.” Lee expressed that the primary goal is “having enough money for a nice prom, while having nice fun events, getting other people’s ideas, and applying them.”
Social Media Coordinator Lillyanna Keogh expressed how she is “really interested in doing something related to marketing,” and“felt that running for social media coordinator would really assist me with gaining experience on that subject.” Similar to Lee, she prioritized the same goals, which are to “promote student participation in events such as JV’s, fundraisers, or dances.” Alongside fellow social media coordinator Loza Bigsetegne, they plan to create “persuasive yet fun social media posts that students will hopefully be intrigued by, “ Keogh finishes off.

“Initially, I wasn’t planning on running. I knew going into junior year with the council would come with a lot of responsibilities that I might not be prepared to handle, “ Secretary Anna Bui, also Head Copy Editor for the Blue and Gold, expressed.
However, junior year does not only bring in exams, similar to every other year, they bring in peers and new relationships. “I grew a connection with my peers on council, and I loved what I did, so I told myself to go for it either way and to push through,” Bui finishes.
For the big question that if not all, many have: what will the 87th annual junior varieties look like?
“While on the surface Junior Varities seems like a smooth and easy event, it requires far more effort,“ Vice President Sabrima Bhattari explained. JVs is an annual event in which juniors come together to devise a talent show with a theme along with it., Overall, JVs is truly a memorable event to go to for a premium high school experience, making it one of the biggest events throughout the entire junior year.
Continuing on the same note, Bhattari expresses how she is going to start preparing for the junior varieties during “early December, if not November.” Believing it is better than “waiting till the last minute, or even the week of Junior Varieties,” Bhattari expressed.
As we leave the school year behind and prepare for the next, teachers, students, and staff await the next by preparing themselves for the upcoming events.
