Vintage, a genre revolving around the old and nostalgic. The smell of dusty vinyl records, polaroids, a variety of CDs consisting of heavy guitar distortion and boy bands, does it ring a bell? It may make some of us feel old, but a huge community worldwide is bringing back the memories of Gen X and beyond through fashion and memorabilia.
The local vintage community has its spots to share, often holding events in Boston and Cambridge. One of the most recent events happened at the MGM Music Hall near Fenway Park on September 20th, 2026, held by Select Markets. This event brought hundreds of local vintage collectors to browse over 60 different vendors.

Select Markets holds these events monthly, ranging across a myriad of locations, including Cambridge Square and Copley. Many different small businesses and local artists can be found here, specializing in vintage clothes, toys, physical media, jewelry, one-of-a-kind pieces, and caricatures.
This event was especially large, with the line stretching from the entrance all the way to Fenway Park. Hundreds of people were brimming with excitement and anticipation for the event.
“I think that Select Markets’ events are pretty cool, whether you want to hang out with your friends and grab food afterwards or just go and find cool items. Some of the stuff I’ve found has been awesome, and I feel like stuff is reasonably priced. I also think the community is nice and the overall vibes are great,” shared junior Salma Valencia Montoya, who has attended multiple prior Select Markets-hosted vintage fests. Additionally, Class of ’26 alumnus Matt Jason Chan expressed, “The festival was so much fun, it makes me want to continue to be into clothes and style.”
The community residing around the events is hospitable to both new and long-time event attendees. With many consistent vendors such as Minted supply giving advice for anyone wanting to pursue fashion, “You just have to do it, you don’t know what everyone else is going to like or dislike. So the only thing holding you back is yourself.”
