After a year of construction, Holland House opened a new clinic for teens behind CVS. The new teen health clinic is funded and supported by the Cambridge Health Alliance. They offer dental services, mental health assistance, LGBTQIA+ health, substance abuse, reproductive health, and much more.

Their opening hours at Malden High are 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. On Thursdays, they have a dental professional that stays from eight in the morning to four in the afternoon.

The center was originally an idea that had been put off for the past ten years but was recently adopted into the school. Tanisha Lahenf, the Sexual and Reproductive Health Manager, said she wants, “to become more integrated into the community, to become a space that students and parents can rely on [them]” and to “foster an environment where someone feels empowered to come in and get health care because they don’t have to worry about too many financial obstacles.”

She explained, “it has already had a huge impact… having a point of care right in your high school is able to help students.” Students do not need an appointment to get in; some go for snacks, water, menstrual products, oral hygiene products, etcetera. She noticed that even the small little visits fill some care gaps.
