On October 28th, seniors gathered at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston for a college fair that gave students an opportunity to explore their futures and learn more about the colleges and universities available to them. For many seniors, choosing a college can feel overwhelming. With graduation approaching, students are beginning to make important decisions about where they want to go and what they want to pursue. With representatives present from various colleges, students were able to ask questions, learn information, and discover opportunities for life after high school.
Students had the chance to speak with college representatives about admissions, scholarships, financial aid, majors, and campus life. These conversations allowed seniors to gain useful information while considering schools that best match their personal and academic goals. With a list of questions prepared, seniors walked around to colleges that caught their attention, and after a conversation, the college representative would scan their QR code to match with that student.

“The college fair gave me a chance to look at schools I probably wouldn’t have considered, and I got to see how many opportunities there are,” senior Zayra Garcia, who is interested in majoring in Dental Hygiene, expressed.
Senior Abigail Alexandre also discussed the importance of attending the fair, explaining how she “liked being able to talk to the college representatives directly” because it allowed her to “connect with them to understand the estimated tuition,” to reach her goal of entering Nursing.
The fair was an opportunity to explore colleges that might not be so often talked about. “Before the fair I didn’t know about MCPHS (Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences), but after speaking to the representative I thought about researching it and possibly applying,” senior Gloria Alexis, who is also interested in entering Nursing, explained.

While some students were already set with their decisions and finished their applications with the Early Decision and Early Action due on November 1st, the college fair still gave chances to students who are preparing for January 1st applications.
Senior Venusia Teklu expressed how she went to the fair “to see if there were other schools” she “didn’t know about” since she already had her applications ready for Early Action.
Whether students discovered a new school or learned more about a school they were already interested in, the experience helped make the college process feel more approachable. With more application deadlines inching closer, events like this remind students that there are many possibilities and options to explore in hopes of planning their next steps.
