Despite the Malden High Golden Tornadoes football team having some struggles this season, the home game versus Somerville was a good hard-fought 27-12 win in the rain. It was a gritty game, with Malden capitalizing on Somerville´s inability to stop the run. A dominant run game along with key redzone passes helped Malden put enough points on the board to score a victory. On the other side of the ball, the defensive line and secondary did their part to shut down the Highlanders for almost the entire game.

In the following week, the Golden Tornadoes fell in a tough loss against the Lynn Classical Rams 34-0. Malden struggled to get their footing offensively could not put together positive drives and struggled with discipline as they accumulated penalties on defense. The Rams overpowered Malden´s secondary with several deep passes downfield to receivers.
