Coming to Boston with his fine pottery and art, new teacher Eli Shalan joins the Malden High School Art Department to teach students about the history and use of art and ceramics. Before coming to Malden High, Shalan worked in Western Massachusetts until his wife transferred to the Boston area for work. As the new school year begins, Shalan starts up his ceramics class, ready to teach students the art of pottery.
As the new Ceramics 1 and 2 teacher located in the Boyle House, Shalan is greeted by many of his colleagues, and his skills and experience help him settle in comfortably into the community.“I am thrilled to have an art teacher next door to me because I love art, and I periodically walk through his classroom just to see what students are doing,” Kelle Griffin, Shalan’s neighboring teacher, expressed.
“I think he’s going to bring his passion for art. He’s going to bring new ideas. He’s going to bring his youthful energy,” Griffin exclaimed.
