On March 15, 2019, over 1.4 million students gathered in cities around the world in protest against inaction on climate change. In Boston, it had occurred outside the State House. Protesters spilled onto Beacon street themed around Climate Change. The posters featured climate-related slogans and memes. Protesters chanted slogans like “We can. We will. Pass the Green New Deal” and “We are not throwing away our shot” as speakers demanded more legislative action. Towards the end of the protest, a Jazz ensemble arrived and played as protesters accompanied their performance with a chorus of chants. At the end of the Climate Strike, protesters swarmed the State House in a lobbying effort to push their representatives to act.
