The Malden High School boys lacrosse team has faced some obstacles but seem to have the heart to keep trying their best. They have faced ups and down through the season but are not giving up. The team had their first game on Thursday, March 28, 2013. They lost to Saugus, 10-6. Senior captain Paul Kiernan scored multiple goals, while senior captain Cruz Desrochers and sophomore Nicholas Tang each scored once. Senior goalie T.J. Ruddock made amazing saves to benefit the team and senior Rufus Arraheffege had numerous face-off that he won throughout the game. “There are a ton of new additions. Most of the team never played a varsity game before, and there are some that it is their first time ever playing.” said captain Cruz Desrochers, with so many new additions this season is sure to kick off any time.

The team second game was against Cambridge Rindge and Latin on Apr. 1, 2013, 14-6 with Malden 6. Junior Dirir Mohammed scored two goals, while seniors Paul Kiernan, Corey French, and Cruz Desrochers scored one each. The MHS team also lost 12-6 against the Bedford Buccaneers on Apr. 9, 2013. Senior Paul Kiernan scored five times and junior Devin Fitzpatrick scored one goal. In addition, senior T.J. Ruddock had made the school record 34 saves in the one game. The team lost 16-6 against Medford on Wednesday, Apr. 10, 2013. Senior captains Paul Kiernan and Cruz Desrochers, and  junior Dirir Mohammed and sophomore Isaac Bethea each scored once, while senior Corey French scored twice.

With the season halfway over, the lacrosse team is working hard, and it will definitely pay off.
