A Look into Poetry Out Loud

Poetry Out Loud is a national competition celebrating poetry through recitation. Each class nominates one person to compete in the period competition and get elected to perform in the semi finals. To read more about the Poetry Out Loud season, click here. This is what it looks like:

Chaimaa Assli

Chaimaa Assli is a freshman at Malden High School from the Linden S.T.E.A.M. Academy. Assli was born in Morocco and moved here at one year old. She lives with both her parents and her three little siblings. Assli has multiple deceased fish and a cat. She hopes to get another cat and a puppy. Her favorite sport is basketball, but she also does track and cross country. After high school Assli wants to go to college to become a surgeon but also focus on diseases. She loves volunteering and usually volunteers with her dad. She also helps her mom at an Arabic school teaching little kids. Assli speaks Arabic and French. She travels to Morocco every other year. Assli has also been to Spain and Canada.
