Confidence radiated through Malden High School’s very own marching band on October 27, 2012. Ending their last show of the season with a score of 91.70, the band instructor, Matthew Tavares, was proud, and he “[could not] ask for more”. Through his eyes, and many others, his students “performed exceptionally well.”

The band combined their talent and became the “best group [Tavares] has ever had.” After the numerous shows that the band has performed in, they “learned to love what they do,” which was not necessarily something that had to be done. Loving what they did reflected on their ability to perform well and be a better team.
Tavares strongly believes that “life begins at the end of your comfort zone.” His students have gone far and beyond to achieve their goals and put on a great performance. Their perseverance and talent will be remembered.
